  • A letter to my kids, a really honest one

A letter to my kids, a really honest one

The struggle of being a parent happens early and it happens quickly.  I think it begins even before they are born.  It starts the day that little test comes up positive and you realize that life as you know it is over.  How could I possibly be having a kid? I can’t even take care of myself half of the time.  How can I afford a kid?  I can’t even pay my hydro bill some months.  How can I be responsible for another human life? I can’t even get myself to work on time at least once a week. And so it begins, the endless chatter in your head about how there’s no way in hell you can do this and no one should allow you to do this!! This chatter never really goes away.  No matter what stage of life they are in there is always the feeling that maybe you aren’t doing the best job that you could for them, or you aren’t giving them the best advice, or just the realization that you may have totally messed them up for life.  Like that’s not a stressful thought.

  • You Can Say NO!!

    You Can Say NO!!

Yes, I can do that.  Sure, I would love to help. Of course I have time to get that done.  Are you a “Yes Man”? If so I’m sure that already today you have said yes to something that you really don’t have the time or energy to do but you offered anyway.  I would like to take this opportunity to come out and own up to my problem and tell the world, my name is Heather and I am a yes addict.

  • What Will You Experience This Summer?

What Will You Experience This Summer?

Summer is coming!! Finally!  Winter always feels so incredibly long, dark and cold for me.  I know, I know, I live in Canada, deal with it.  But, even after living here my entire life I haven’t been able to embrace the winter yet.  As the days have been getting longer, brighter and warmer, my mood and energy is so much better.  I wake up in the morning and don’t have to drag myself out of bed.  I can see the sun peeking through the blinds and know that it will be warm and sunny and that makes me happy J As I start to unthaw myself I begin planning all the fun things that I want to do and see over the VERY short summer here in Ontario.
